NEW RENAISSANCE - Urban Art Fair 2024

If the title sounds like a pleonasm, it is because it is in reality a mise en abyme of the artistic journey of César Malfi.
Transfigured following an “electrical” accident, the artist questioned his urban practice to introduce a figurative art which was revealed to him by the discovery of the work of Michelangelo.
This is the tribute he undertakes to pay in this "new" series where he pays homage to the genius of the Renaissance by seeking to extend one of his unfinished works.
Indeed, the monumental work to which Michelangelo devoted a large part of his life was the tomb of Pope Julius II, which was to take the form of a building decorated with multiple sculptures in the choir of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Revised downwards, the project left many allegorical statues in the sketch stage. It was then that Caesar took up the challenge of reinterpreting them.
Thus the seven liberal arts initially planned are reconfigured by the urban artist's spray can. In a dialogue of forms, styles and eras, the artist invents formal, chromatic and iconographic associations to decline in modernity the notions of rhetoric, dialectic, arithmetic... Up to music.
For an art free from all prejudice.
