BFM TV - Urban Art Riviera episode 7: César Malfi invites Yannick Boesso

On the program for this Urban Art Riviera episode 7, César Malfi receives Yannick Boesso, founder of the Urban Art Fair, one of the largest street art fairs in the world, which takes place from April 25 to 28, 2024 at the Carreau du Temple, in Paris.
Together, they will present the eighth edition of this urban art fair, showcasing the work of many exceptional artists, and in which César will have the honor of participating.

The principle: dozens of galleries from all over the world come to exhibit the works of the big names in urban art. This means that more than a hundred artists are represented in one place, making this fair a true temple of street art.

This context is the perfect opportunity for César Malfi and Yannick Boesso to discuss the current state of this movement and how it fits into more global contemporary art, where it occupies a prominent place.

The place of urban art in contemporary art

Yannick Boesso, founder of the Urban Art Fair, describes how some artists, during their artistic journey, claim to be part of contemporary art rather than urban art. This opens a reflection with César Malfi on the way in which these currents exchange and feed off each other.

They then discuss how the Urban Art Fair is exported outside the walls and supports its urban dimension, notably with the intervention of Lady Pink at the Oberkampf Wall and of Seth in the Galeries Lafayettes on the Champs Elysées.

Laurie Canac picks up on this notion and questions the guest of Urban Art Riviera about the exercise of installation, which allows Yannick Boesso to remind us that urban art is above all a contextual art, making it an ideal medium for this practice.

César finally talks about his experience of the installation and how he had reintroduced the urban atmosphere within the Archaeology Museum of Nice Cimiez. This installation made it possible to break down the barrier of the museum, the guiding subject in César's artistic approach, while highlighting the site of the museum which is itself built on a historic urban site.

Finally, Yannick Boesso discusses the artists who, according to him, represent a form of new wave of street art, notably citing César Malfi!
